PR is an essential tool for every nonprofit organization or political cause; it drives donations, it motivates volunteers, and it gets the message out. Traditional PR is only one aspect though, and these days there are many online resources that can leverage a PR campaign. Using viral video, working with bloggers, social network campaigns – all of them can generate huge amounts of attention for a cause.

Our speakers:

Pamela Workman-Hilton is the President of WE + PR. She has done extensive work with a variety of media companies and non-profit organizations including Vibe Media Group, CPX Interactive and Russell Simmons’ Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation. She has a specialty in working with musical artists and celebrity talent. Pam will share some of her case studies and talk about the tools she uses in her daily work.

Rachel Sterne is the founder of GroundReport, a distributed news sourcing platform, and she is a marketing and digital PR consultant for startups, nonprofit media and consumer brands through her firm Upward Strategy. She will talk about her experience using technology and social media to build media visibility for GroundReport, and other clients including WNET, Daylife, and How Democracy Works Now.

As usual the doors will open at 6:00pm for cocktails and networking, and the speakers will kick off promptly at 6:30. There will be time at the end for discussion, sharing, more networking and more cocktails. Please RSVP early, as space will be limited.
